Passage along the Georgian Military Road was closed for transport
Traffic on the Georgian Military Road has been closed to all types of transport since Tuesday, January 13. The ban is in effect on the section from Vladikavkaz to the village of Lars until further notice.
As explained in the Stavropol State Traffic Inspectorate, the highway was blocked for security reasons and taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border police.
Drivers were advised to plan their route in advance based on the traffic situation.
The Georgian military Road leads from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi through the Main Caucasian Ridge, connecting Russia with Transcaucasia. Its length is 208 km.
According to the StavropolMedia news agency, the road had already been closed earlier due to avalanches in Georgia. Queues of cars formed at the border checkpoint.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that the snowfall caused a transport collapse across the country. Similar problems on the roads due to bad weather were recorded last year.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
