The United States is investing $115 million in anti-drone measures to enhance security during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This was reported on January 13 by the Reuters news agency.

American defense companies are developing a range of technologies aimed at countering drones, including tracking software, lasers, electronic warfare and autonomous machine guns, the material says.

"We are entering a new era of defending our air superiority in order to secure our borders and the interior of the United States," said US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristy Noem.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on December 17 that the FIFA council approved a record amount of financial payments for the participating teams of the 2026 World Cup in the amount of $ 727 million.
