At least 14 "mysterious" deaths have been recorded since the beginning of 2026 in the Italian municipality of Castiglione Fiorentino, where 12,000 people live — such statistics were not observed even during the Covid-19 epidemic. This was reported on Sunday, January 11, by the Corriere Fiorentino newspaper, citing local mayor Mario Agnelli.

"In Castiglione Fiorentino, the second municipality in Arezzo Valdiquiana (locality. — Ed.), too many people died at the beginning of 2026. <...> 14 coffins in the first ten days of the year — more than 10% of the number of deaths in the whole of 2025, of which there were 133," the article says.

The mayor stated that he does not hide his concern about what is happening, as all the chapels, chapels and cemeteries in the area are overcrowded. In an interview with the publication, he clarified that this had not happened even during the pandemic and suggested that mortality could be affected by the season. Currently, 17 funeral homes have been opened in the area. Agnelli said that what was being recorded could be called an "abnormal, unexplained situation."

On December 18, 2025, the Reuters news agency reported that military personnel had been deployed in France to combat the epidemic of nodular dermatitis in cattle. The soldiers, as specified, redirected hundreds of thousands of vaccines to the south-west of the country, while they themselves will be involved in vaccinating 750,000 cows. The campaign was planned to be completed in one month.
