- The Cuban President announced his readiness for a serious dialogue with the United States.
Cuba is not negotiating with the United States, but it is ready for a serious and respectful dialogue. This was announced on January 12 by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
"There are no negotiations with the US government, except for technical contacts in the field of migration. We have always been ready to maintain a serious and responsible dialogue with various US governments, including the current one, based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, principles of international law, and mutual benefit," he wrote on the social network X (former. Twitter).
In addition, he noted that Cuba strictly adheres to the bilateral migration agreements concluded with the United States. However, the further development of relations between States should be based on international law, and not on "hostility, threats and economic coercion."
On January 11, US President Donald Trump announced the cessation of oil and financial supplies to Cuba. According to him, Havana has received significant amounts of resources from Venezuela over the years, providing security services to the Venezuelan leadership in return.
On the same day, the American leader told reporters that after the military operation in Venezuela, the United States maintains contacts with the Cuban authorities and discusses possible agreements.
