Pensions for the disabled of all groups will be increased in Russia in 2026: what is known

In 2026, Russia plans to gradually increase pensions for the disabled and other socially vulnerable categories of citizens, including the indexation of insurance, social and state pensions, as well as monthly cash payments. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Pension indexation schedule

Pension indexation in 2026 will take place in two main stages. Starting from February 1, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.6%, according to the actual inflation rate for 2025. During the same period, monthly cash payments for the disabled, veterans, Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, Heroes of Labor, Heroic Mothers and other recipients of state support measures will be indexed to the inflation rate.

Indexation of social pensions is planned from April 1. According to the Social Fund of Russia, state pension benefits will increase by 14.75%, which will affect 4.2 million people, of whom 3.5 million are recipients of social pensions, mainly for disability and loss of breadwinner. The promotion will take place automatically, without submitting applications.

Disability pensions

The appointment of an increased fixed payment and allowance for care from 2026 will be made automatically upon the onset of eligibility, without the need to submit applications. The increase is applied from the month of reaching the age of 80 or the establishment of disability group I. In the case of dependents, recalculation is also carried out on an application basis only if the family composition changes.

As previously clarified by State Duma deputy Kaplan Panes (LDPR), "district allowances are applied further, if applicable," which means an increase in the total amount of payments for pensioners living in the Far North and equivalent territories.

Who is entitled to a pension increase

The increase will affect people with disabilities of groups I, II and III, people with disabilities from childhood and children with disabilities. The indexation will also apply to participants of the Great Patriotic War, citizens awarded the badges "Resident of besieged Leningrad", "Resident of besieged Sevastopol" and "Resident of besieged Stalingrad", conscripts and victims of radiation.

Starting in 2026, the Social Fund of Russia will begin providing a social supplement to pensions throughout the country, with the exception of Moscow, where it will remain under the jurisdiction of the city. An additional payment is assigned if the pensioner's income is below the subsistence level. After the transfer of authority, payments will be synchronized and provided on a one-stop-shop basis.
