- GB News has learned about the negotiations between Britain, Australia and Canada to ban the social network X
The UK is discussing with Australia and Canada an international ban on the social network X (ex. Twitter). This was reported on January 12 by GB News channel.
"Downing Street (the residence of the Prime Minister of Great Britain. — Ed.) held talks with Canada and Australia about a possible ban on the [American billionaire's] social network Ilona Mask X," the publication says.
According to the publication, London expressed concern about the Grok chatbot, created on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI), which was integrated into the social network. It is noted that such a service allows users to create explicit images of women and children.
According to GB News, the Australian and Canadian authorities agree with the position of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. At the same time, the article emphasizes that Canada denies the authorities' plans to block X.
On January 10, Musk called the British government fascist because of the high number of arrests for posts on social networks. On his Facebook page, he attached a post by another user with statistics according to which more than 12.2 thousand people were arrested in the UK over an unnamed period.
On the same day, the businessman made a repost of an AI-generated photo of Starmer in a bikini, saying that the British authorities want to ban freedom of speech. This is how the billionaire reacted to information about the UK's intentions to ban the social network X due to the Grok chatbot scandal.
On January 9, American Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna announced her intention to initiate sanctions against Starmer and the UK in the event of a ban on X. According to her, the relevant bill is already under preparation.
