- Nilov suggested that salaries should be indexed annually at least at the rate of inflation
State Duma deputies proposed to fix the mandatory indexation of wages at least once a year at a level not lower than official inflation. This was announced on January 12 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor.
"Today, together with colleagues from different factions of the State Duma, we are submitting to the lower house a bill establishing an annual salary increase without fail. The initiative regulates specific deadlines, at least once a year, and the minimum indexation level is not lower than the inflation rate for the previous year," Nilov told RIA Novosti.
According to the authors of the bill, the consolidation of such a norm will ensure transparency and stability of labor relations, eliminate the arbitrariness of the timing and frequency of indexing, and create a predictable mechanism for protecting workers' rights. Currently, employers are required to index salaries to preserve purchasing power, but the frequency and amount of increases are not legally established.
