A 56-year-old man was killed in a fire in one of Hong Kong's residential high-rise buildings, a 54-year-old woman is in a coma, and 320 people who lived there have been evacuated. This was reported on Sunday, January 11, by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper, citing police officials.
"Officers received a message <...> stating that thick smoke and flames were pouring out of the apartment on the top floor. <...> During a search of the smoky premises, firefighters found a man and a woman lying unconscious inside. The intensity of the fire caused a large—scale evacuation of about 320 residents," the article says.
The discovered man died in a medical facility, and the woman remains in a coma.
The cause of the incident was, according to preliminary data, an electrical malfunction. The incident was reported to the police at 06:19 a.m. (01:09 Moscow time), and later, at 06:42 a.m. (01:42 Moscow time), the fire was extinguished.
On November 4, 2025, The Washington Post (WP) reported that 10 people were killed and at least 20 injured in a fire at a nursing home in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Then it was noted that the flame was fixed on the upper floors of the building. The preliminary cause of the incident was not reported.
