Metallurg beat SKA 5-1 in the KHL regular season

Magnitogorsk Metallurg Hockey Club has won a major victory over SKA St. Petersburg in the home match of the regular season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The match was held on January 10 in front of 7.4 thousand spectators and ended with a score of 5:1.

Forwards Dmitry Silantyev (10th minute), Alexander Petunin (17th minute), defender Artem Minulin (30th minute), forwards Sergey Tolchinsky (31st minute) and Derek Barak (48th minute) scored for the hosts. Defenseman Marcus Phillips scored the only goal for SKA (43rd).

This victory was the fifth in a row for Metallurg. The Magnitogorsk team has not lost since December 26, when they lost to Avangard Omsk in a shootout with a score of 1:2.

Metallurg is ranked first in the Eastern Conference standings with 70 points. SKA is ranked seventh in the West with 49 points, adds Sport-Express.

On January 4, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl defeated CSKA Moscow in a KHL match in a shootout. Regular time and overtime ended with a score of 1:1. Denis Zernov scored for CSKA, and Byron Fraz scored for Lokomotiv. The winning shootout was scored by Artur Kayumov.
