On January 10, American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk called the British government fascists because of the high number of arrests for posts on social networks.

On his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter), the businessman attached another user's post with statistics according to which more than 12.2 thousand people were arrested in the UK over an unnamed period. The reason for such arrests, allegedly, were comments on social networks. The source of these statistics is not specified.

Musk made a repost of this entry on his Facebook page and wondered: "Why is the British government so fascist?"

It is worth noting that some users recalled Musk's own post from November 2025, in which he stated that falsely accusing people of following the ideologies of fascism and Nazism should be regarded "in the same way as incitement to murder."

Earlier in the day, Musk made a repost of a photo of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a bikini generated by artificial intelligence (AI), saying that the British authorities want to ban freedom of speech. This is how the billionaire reacted to reports that the UK authorities are considering banning the social network X due to the scandal with the chatbot Mask Grok. Users have started using the neural network to create sexualized deepfakes of real people, including celebrities and children.

The day before, American Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna announced her intention to initiate sanctions against Starmer and the UK in the event of a ban on the social network X. According to her, the relevant bill is already under preparation.
