Police detained 100 armed protesters who, wielding both cold steel and firearms, violated public order in the Beharestan district, which is located in the province of Tehran. This was announced on January 10 by the head of the district Murad Moradi Karnachi.

"100 people who violated public order <...> they were arrested," the Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying on its Telegram channel.

According to the head of Bekharestan, the leaders of the demonstrators were among those detained.

One of the doctors working in Tehran told Time magazine on the same day that at least 217 people had died during mass protests in the republic.

A day earlier, Iran's Supreme National Security Council accused the United States and Israel of organizing riots in the country, which began on January 1 with a protest and turned into a threat to national security. At the same time, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, said that the Iranian youth and the entire nation must maintain unity, which will allow them to defeat any enemy.
