- The Ministry of Economic Development announced the preservation of the tourist flow from the EU countries to Russia
Tourists from the European Union (EU) countries continue to visit Russia individually, and there are no restrictions on their trips from the Russian Federation. This was announced on January 10 by Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at the Ministry of Economic Development.
"We know that European countries have banned official tours to Russia. But an individual tourist is traveling, it's just that he is less noticeable," he stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Kondratiev stressed that Russia, unlike the EU states, does not impose additional restrictions on foreign tourists — the electronic visa system continues to operate for them, which allows them to enter the Russian Federation without obstacles.
On December 9, 2025, the American magazine Forbes pointed to the successful reorientation of the Moscow tourism industry that has taken place in recent years. The publication notes that in 2023 alone, the capital of the Russian Federation received about 2.3 million tourists from countries such as the People's Republic of China (PRC), China, India and Iran. The publication also noted that tourism has always been a tool of soft power.
