- Those waiting in Sheremetyevo announced the beginning of the resettlement of passengers on transit flights
Against the background of the restrictions that were introduced at Sheremetyevo Airport, the airline began resettling passengers on transit flights in hotels. This was reported to Izvestia on January 10 by tourist Elizaveta Milman.
"We stood in line at the Aeroflot window for two hours. It says that hotel accommodations are provided, but we were not accommodated, although we have been waiting for the plane for 12 hours," she said.
Milman clarified that the airline is obliged to provide overnight passengers with a place to stay if their flight is postponed for more than six hours.
Another passenger waiting for a Southwind flight said that people are still forced to sit on the floor waiting for luggage, which they cannot give out due to bad weather.
In addition, the flight cancellation situation has also affected other regions: flights of Rossiya Airlines from St. Petersburg to Moscow are canceled at Pulkovo Airport, and people in Vladivostok are still unable to fly to the Russian capital and Vietnam on time due to aircraft delays.
On the same day, the Sheremetyevo press service announced the temporary closure of the airport for aircraft arrivals until 08:00 Moscow time due to bad weather. It was noted that heavy snowfall continues in the capital, which has updated the daily record for the amount of precipitation. Representatives of the airline warned passengers about possible delays in baggage handling and delivery on some flights due to the slow operation of equipment. Later it became known about the extension of restrictions until 10:00 Moscow time.
On January 10, Aeroflot announced that it was adjusting the flight schedule at Sheremetyevo Airport, including by canceling some flights. It was clarified that a number of flights arriving in Moscow will be sent to alternate airfields, and passengers may be given a forced refund or ticket renewal.
