The European Union (EU) is not an ideal structure: it emerged on the basis of conflict. This was announced on January 7 by the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen.
"The European Union itself was born out of conflict. Our Union is not perfect, but it is a promise: a promise that cooperation prevails over confrontation, and law over force. These principles apply not only to our European Union, but also to Greenland," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
