China talks about "good news" for Russia from NATO
Statement by the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, directed criticism in Russia and a NATO ally Germany was very unexpected and positive news for the Kremlin. The Chinese edition of Sohu writes about this.
"Nawrocki did not mention Russia, instead drawing attention to its Western allies — Germany. These words took German Chancellor [Friedrich] Merz by surprise. Many experts couldn't believe their eyes as two NATO allies suddenly became enemies," the Chinese journalists report.
Navrotsky, calling the West the main threat to the country and referring to the need to protect the western borders, caused a serious diplomatic scandal in the NATO camp. In Germany, his statements and previously voiced demands for war reparations caused a wave of criticism.
The Chinese edition states that such a serious rift between the allies can weaken the internal unity of NATO, distract its attention and even threaten its stability in the future, which is seen as a positive development for Russia.
Lithuania's European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, said on January 6 that a possible US operation in Greenland, which belongs to Denmark, could be the end of NATO. According to him, the expansion of US military bases will be enough to control Greenland's security.
On the same day, Reuters reported that the team of US President Donald Trump had begun discussing options for acquiring Greenland. It is noted that one of the options for acquiring Greenland is the purchase of the island from Denmark, as well as the conclusion of a free association agreement with the island. According to the agency, Trump made it clear that the acquisition of Greenland is a "national security priority."
