CIA officer Ames, convicted of espionage, died in prison in the United States

Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer Aldrich Ames, who was sentenced to life in prison for spying for the USSR and Russia, has died in prison in the United States. This became known on January 7.

"He died on January 5, 2026," the RIA Novosti news agency quoted the US Department of Prisons as saying.

It is noted that he worked for the CIA for more than 30 years, almost a third of which collaborated with Moscow.
