A former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who was on the international wanted list on suspicion of manipulating the stock market, was detained in Germany. This was announced on January 5 by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
"A former MP suspected of manipulating the stock market has been detained in Germany. On January 3, 2026, the former People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation, who was on the international wanted list, was detained on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany," the department's Telegram channel says.
According to the investigation, in 2017, through fictitious transactions with government bonds, the suspect received an artificial investment profit of more than 20 million hryvnias, which he then legalized. The suspicion was reported to him in August 2023. After the extradition procedure is completed, the case will be sent to court.
On March 11 last year, a Ukrainian citizen was detained in Poland, who was convicted in Kazakhstan of trafficking in human organs. The woman was detained at a railway crossing between Poland and Ukraine on the basis of an Interpol red notice, said Marta Petkovska, a spokeswoman for the Przemysl prosecutor's office. It was noted that Interpol has been searching for the Ukrainian woman since November 2020.
