On January 3, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin on the memorial day of Metropolitan Peter of Kiev, Moscow and All Russia.

"I cordially congratulate all of you on a very significant holiday for our church — the commemoration of the Holy Hierarch and Wonderworker of Kiev and then Moscow," he addressed the participants of the liturgy.

The Patriarch noted that it was St. Peter who was the founder of the Assumption Cathedral.

During the liturgy, Kirill presented awards to the Russian Orthodox Church. In particular, entrepreneur Nikolai Shutov was awarded the Order of Glory and Honor of the II degree. In addition, at the end of the service, the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church blessed the participants of the special operation who participated in the prayer service.

Earlier, in September 2025, the patriarch pointed to the deep faith of Russians, which is evidenced by religious processions. In particular, he noted that the people of Russia have managed to restore the glorious tradition of Moscow processions, dating back 400 years.
