After an attack by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a cafe in the village of Khorly in the Kherson region, the room was engulfed in fire, and those who could were taken out of the establishment. Archpriest Gennady told Izvestia about this on January 2.

"After arrival, they came running here and helped to pull out all the people: first, who were alive, and then, of course, who could be reached, because everything was on fire, the roof was collapsing, and then they took out the dead, who they could," he said.

It is noted that as a result of the incident, the cafe completely burned out, the roof collapsed, and only three tables were able to survive. The priest added that parishioners also helped the victims when the drones arrived.

On January 1, the governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo, announced the attack of three drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a cafe and a hotel in the village of Khorly, Kherson region. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, 27 people, including two children, became victims of the attack. A criminal case on the terrorist attack has been opened on the fact of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin heard a report from Baldo on the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike and on the progress of investigative actions. Later, he agreed that the crime was similar to the burning of people in Odessa on May 2, 2014.
