Reuters reported on the stabilization of oil prices at the first auction in 2026
Oil prices stabilized at the first auction in 2026 after showing the largest annual loss since 2020 in 2025. This was reported on January 2 by the Reuters news agency.
Brent crude futures are currently at $60.81 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures are at $57.39 per barrel. It is noted that Brent and WTI recorded annual losses of almost 20% of their value in 2025 amid traders' concerns about oversupply in the market.
Suvro Sarkar, an energy analyst at DBS, said that in 2026 oil prices could be in the range of $60-65 per barrel.
On January 2, Reuters reported an increase in oil prices after talks between American President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. Then futures for Brent crude oil rose to $61.27 per barrel, for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil — to $57.32 per barrel.
