Calculations of the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the 30th Separate Guards motorized Rifle brigade of the Center group of forces disrupted the rotation of formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO). The crew struck an area strike on the fortifications, destroying the enemy's personnel and equipment. This was announced on January 2 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Upon arrival at the firing position, the first thing I do is run and set up an artillery bead, orient it in azimuth, point it at the target and already transmit the data to the gunner, the commander of the combat vehicle. The growth of activity is constant, it is changeable," Ruslan Basyrov, an ordinary topogeodesist operator, told the Guards.

He also noted that the Grad calculations work both on duty targets detected by the intelligence forces and on promptly spotted objects. Among them there are strongholds, firing points and places where Ukrainian militants congregate.

According to the ministry, the artillery strikes were carried out using the tactics of a continuous "artillery carousel" — from several pre-prepared firing positions. It is specified that the use of such tactics can significantly weaken the defensive capabilities of the enemy and creates favorable conditions for the further offensive of the assault units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"We work at a distance of 20-25 km. We destroy the enemy's equipment and infantry. Our firing group is currently working. She's working out now, and we'll go work. And that's how we'll change periodically. Upon arrival at the point, it takes us 3-4 minutes to unwrap the package, visit the target, make three sighting adjustments, work out the full package and quickly roll up and leave," said Maxim Nemtyrev, Sergeant, commander of the MLRS Grad.

The ministry noted that the constant change of firing positions minimizes the risk of a retaliatory strike and maintains a high rate of firing.

The artillery crews of the Center group of forces continue to carry out round-the-clock fire missions to eliminate enemy targets and manpower. Coordinated actions in conjunction with intelligence units and calculations of troops of unmanned systems (UAVs) make it possible to quickly identify targets and deliver precise strikes against the Armed Forces formations, their equipment and warehouses, as well as command posts. The high pace of the offensive in the Red Army area remains.

On December 31, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the military personnel of the artillery crew of the towed Hyacinth-B cannon of the 268th self-propelled artillery regiment of the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Center group of forces disrupted the rotation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formations in the Red Army area of the SVR. After receiving the coordinates, they deployed a 152-millimeter cannon and successfully hit all targets at a distance of over 18 km using high-explosive shells. The fire was adjusted in real time by the operators of the unmanned systems.
