Three people were killed and 17 others were injured as a result of protests that escalated into clashes with police in the city of Azna, which is located in Lorestan province in western Iran. This was reported on January 2 by the Fars news agency.
"Today at about 18:00 (17:30 Moscow time. A group of protesters, taking advantage of the protests of the population <...>, attacked a police station, during which three people were killed and 17 were injured," the article says.
According to the agency, the attackers, armed with various types of weapons, intended to disarm law enforcement officials and break into their warehouses. In the course of their criminal actions, the participants of the pogrom threw stones at police officers, set fire to their official cars and got into fights with them.
