Figure skater Zagitova was presented with a Japanese blade for the New Year
On January 1, Russian figure skater Alina Zagitova shared that she received an unusual gift for the New Year — a Japanese blade.
"This Japanese blade is not just a weapon, but a real work of art. It is about half a century old, and it was created according to the traditions of the ancient masters of the Suekoto period (XVI century) from the famous tamahagane steel," Zagitova wrote in her Telegram channel and shared a photo of the blade.
She noted that each pattern on the blade is a reflection of the history and skill of the samurai.
On December 15, Zagitova set a Russian record by performing at the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear thermal power plant in Pevek in Chukotka. Then, according to her, during the performance she focused on the purity of lines, speed, choreography and complete unity with the ice. The record was officially recorded by a representative of the Russian Book of Records right on the deck of the station.
