In Finland, two Fitbur sailors have been arrested, and two more have been banned from leaving the country due to suspected cable damage. This was reported on January 1 on the website of the Finnish police.

"The Fitburg vessel, suspected of involvement in the cable damage incident in the Gulf of Finland, was escorted by the authorities to Kantvik Harbor <...> on December 31," the report says.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation. Investigative actions on board the vessel have already begun, including the collection of necessary materials and an analysis of the situation. The vessel's anchor is also being examined to find out possible damage that could have led to the incident.

In addition, an underwater investigation has been launched in the area of the damaged cable with the support of the border guard service and the Finnish Defense Forces. The investigation is ongoing in close cooperation with the Border Guard and the defense forces.

On December 31, the Finnish Coast Guard announced the arrest of a vessel on suspicion of allegedly damaging an underwater telecommunications cable in the Gulf of Finland. Then the VL Turva ship arrived at the place and found that the anchor chain of the vessel was in the water. Later, the Finnish government informed the Russian Embassy about the detention of the vessel, whose crew members included Russian citizens.
