The Guardian has learned about Israel's permission to import dual-use goods into Gaza
Israel has allowed the import of "dual-use goods" such as generators and tent poles into the Gaza Strip on a commercial basis. This was reported on January 1 by The Guardian, citing sources.
"Israel has implemented a parallel supply control system in the Gaza Strip, allowing traders to import goods prohibited for humanitarian organizations into the territory," the publication says.
According to the sources, dual-use goods are freely sold on the market in Gaza City, but before they can be sold, they pass through three strictly controlled Israeli checkpoints.
According to one of the sources, "the Israelis know exactly about these goods."
The article notes that previously basic necessities, including generators and tent poles, were included in the Israeli blacklist of "dual-use" goods.
The Axios portal reported on December 31 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his readiness to proceed to the second stage of a deal to resolve the situation in Gaza during talks with US President Donald Trump. Also on December 26, the portal learned that the White House fears the resumption of hostilities by the Israeli authorities with the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. According to the portal, Netanyahu is trying to persuade the American leader to support his position.
