According to him, the strike was targeted at the place of celebration, where there were civilians. The governor noted that the attack was carried out after reconnaissance and timed to coincide with the New Year's address.

One of the drones, equipped with an incendiary mixture, caused a fire in the first hour of the night, which was extinguished only in the morning. The total area of the fire, which was completely extinguished by 08:40 Moscow time, was 500 square meters. "Crimean hospitals are already ready and are taking in those injured as a result of the drone strike from the Kherson region. There are women among the victims. The condition is being assessed by Crimean doctors," Kurlayeva wrote on her Telegram channel.

The authorities did not rule out the involvement of Western intelligence services in the strike in the Kherson region.
