The vessels of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which carried weapons, did not have official permission from the authorities of the republic or from representatives of the Saudi-led coalition to enter the port of Yemen. This was announced on December 30 by the representative of the coalition, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki.

"Two vessels entered the port of Mukalla in violation of the procedures established in such cases and without permission to enter from the government of Yemen or the leadership of the coalition," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In addition, al-Maliki stressed that the crew of the ships decided to disable tracking and identification devices at the moment of approaching the territorial waters of Yemen. The general clarified that upon the ships' arrival at the port, it became clear that more than 80 vehicles were stationed on board, as well as a number of containers containing ammunition and weapons.

The announcement by the Saudi-led coalition of a military operation in Yemen became known on the same day earlier. This happened after the UAE ships docked at the port of the republic without approval. Later, the Yemeni authorities announced the imposition of a state of emergency on the territory of their state for a period of 90 days, and also demanded that the UAE withdraw all forces from their country within 24 hours.

On the afternoon of December 30, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied Saudi Arabia's accusations of allegedly putting pressure on the separatists of the Southern Transitional Council (UPC) and encouraging military operations near the kingdom's borders. The statement stressed that in the current situation, "the facts are significantly distorted."
