Products from 40 regions will appear at Moscow fairs in the new season
The new season of inter-regional fairs will open in the capital on January 13. On January 16, weekend fairs will start working after the holidays, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
The shelves will feature products from more than 40 regions of Russia, including the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Chuvashia, Tambov, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Orel, Murmansk and Volgograd regions.
"Last year, Moscow fairs were visited by about 8.5 million people. They purchased more than 16 thousand tons of farm products. Citizens and tourists also participated in tastings, creative and culinary workshops," Sergunina said.
Traditionally, vegetables and fruits account for almost 80% of sales in the warmer months, and meat, dairy, and fish gastronomy are increasingly popular in the colder months. From the beginning of autumn to spring, citizens actively buy dried fruits, nuts and honey.
The assortment on the sites depends on the supplier regions. For example, cheese with fenugreek is imported from the Novgorod region, sheep's cheese from the Saratov region, sugar—free marshmallows with sea buckthorn and raspberries from the Orenburg region, marmalade from cloudberries and cranberries from the Arkhangelsk Region, honey with pine nuts from the Altai Territory.
Interregional fairs await visitors from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year. They are located in covered pavilions equipped with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, commercial and refrigeration equipment.
Weekend fairs are open from Friday to Sunday. Previously, they worked only during the warm season, but in 2024 they gradually began to be converted to a year-round format.
Retail outlets are provided free of charge to entrepreneurs.
