- Four residents of Kuban were sentenced to 15 years in prison for sabotage on the railway
Four residents of the Krasnodar Territory were sentenced to terms of up to 15 years in a penal colony for committing crimes against railway infrastructure facilities. This was announced on December 30 by the joint press service of the courts of the region.
"It was established that in December 2022, Shipulin received an offer to earn money by committing arson attacks on transport infrastructure facilities. Realizing that one could not cope, he told the other defendants about the possibility, who agreed to the proposed conditions," the Telegram channel said.
The court found Semyon Shipulin, Arman Hayrapetyan, Daniil Evseev and Maxim Yaglov guilty under Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sabotage"). In December 2022, they set fire to the railway equipment at the Loris station and the driver's cabin at the Krasnodar-Sortirovochnaya station, receiving a total of 120 thousand rubles for this.
It is reported that criminal activity was suppressed by FSB officers in the Krasnodar Territory. Shipulin, Hayrapetyan and Evseev were sentenced to 15 years in a high—security penal colony with the first three years in prison, while Yaglov was sentenced to 13 years with two years in prison.
On the same day, Oleg Kalinkin, head of the Main Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, announced that in Russia in 2025, more than 300 people were detained on suspicion of sabotage at transport infrastructure facilities. He also added that half of the detainees, namely more than 150 people, are minors.
