On December 30, the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk, at the request of the investigation, changed the measure of restraint for Oleg Chemezov, the former vice-governor of the Sverdlovsk Region. This was reported by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is noted that Chemezov himself advocated his own recognizance. According to the former vice-governor, he needs medical treatment, and being under house arrest will not allow him to take care of his health.

Denis Pasler, the head of the Sverdlovsk Region, dismissed Chemezov from his post on September 25. It was noted that Chemezov is a defendant in a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office concerning the appeal to the state revenue of a large energy company, Oblkommunenergo.

The former vice governor was detained on September 29. Later, on September 30, the court remanded him in custody until November 15. On November 13, the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk extended Chemezov's arrest in the fraud case until February 15.

It was noted that property worth about 500 million rubles was seized from members of the family of the former vice-governor. In particular, the fleet of Chemezov's ex-wife was arrested: an Audi A8L and two Mercedes — GLS 400D and 4MATIC.
