A powerful 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Japan on December 30, according to the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The tremors were recorded at 17:12 local time (11:12 Moscow time) near the islands of the Ryukyu Archipelago. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 20 km northeast of the settlement of Vadomari, which is home to about 6.9 thousand people. The hearth was located at a depth of 10 km.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on December 26 that an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded off the coast of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. It was clarified that the source of the natural phenomenon lay at a depth of 62 km.
