Russia and Belarus have signed an agreement on the common labeling of jewelry
Russia and Belarus have signed an agreement on the creation of a common jewelry market, as well as on the mutual recognition of jewelry markings. This was announced on December 30 by the Russian Ministry of Finance on its website.
"Jewelry that will be branded with an assay stamp and marked in one of the states — Russia or Belarus, in case of their transfer to the territory of another state, will not be subject to mandatory additional branding and labeling," the department shared.
It is noted that the ratification of the agreement will help reduce the time needed to move jewelry, which may have a positive impact on the work of market participants engaged in the distribution and sale of jewelry. The report clarifies that it will also be easier for the relevant authorities to control the circulation and movement of precious metals, precious stones and jewelry.
Tatiana Solareva, head of the product line at 585 Zolotoy, told Izvestia on December 11 that when choosing jewelry, the primary attention should be paid not to design, but to official documents and markings. According to her, for products with precious inserts in large networks, a passport with detailed characteristics of stone and metal is issued.
