In 2025, silver and platinum became the most expensive commodities, which increased in price by 2.4 and 2.3 times, respectively, these metals overtook all other commodities in terms of growth rates, given that palladium became a close "competitor" with a 1.85-fold increase in value. This is evidenced by data from ICE Futures, CME Group and the Shanghai Metal Exchange, which were reviewed by RIA Novosti on December 30.

Among energy sources, the largest price increase was shown by uranium, the cost of which increased by 11.5%. Gas prices also increased by 9.9% on the American market, while coking coal became more expensive on Chinese exchanges by 7.9%. At the same time, other types of fuel, on the contrary, have become cheaper.

As for agricultural products, veal became the most expensive product, increasing in price by 32%. Soybean oil rose in price by 22%, and the price of live cattle increased by 18.3%. However, almost all other agricultural commodities, with the exception of arabica beans, soybeans, and lean pork, showed declines on global exchanges.

The cheapest product in 2025 was orange juice, the price of which dropped by 60%. The top three also included cocoa beans, which fell in price by 54% in the London market and by 46% in the American market.

Igor Rastorguev, a leading analyst at AMarkets, reported on December 25 that a key factor in platinum's growth was a structural shortage amid limited supply. According to him, the global platinum market has been experiencing a deficit for the third year in a row, which reached 692,000 ounces in 2025, about 9% of annual demand. Global reserves of the metal decreased to 2.5 million ounces, which is equivalent to less than five months of consumption.
