Saudi-led coalition announces military operation in Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition announced the start of a military operation in Yemen after it launched a "limited airstrike" on "foreign military support" based in the Yemeni port of Mukalla. This was reported on December 30 by the Saudi state news agency SPA, citing Major General Turki Al-Maliki.

"The Joint Command of the coalition Forces <...> conducted a "limited" foreign military support airstrike on the port of Mukalla. <... The leadership of the coalition will continue to de-escalate the situation and impose calm in the governorates of Hadramaut and Al-Mahra, as well as to prevent any military support from any country to any Yemeni component without coordination with the legitimate Yemeni government and the coalition," the text says.
