Sochi beat SKA 8-4 in the KHL
Hockey club (HC) Sochi defeated St. Petersburg HC SKA in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season match.
The game, which took place in Sochi, ended with a score of 8:4 in favor of the owners of the ice (2:3, 3:1, 3:0). Sergey Popov scored a double for the Black Sea team (8th, 26th minutes), Matvey Guskov (9th), Rafael Bikmullin (27th), Roman Maksimov (31st), Denis Vengryzhanovsky (43rd), Max Ellis (57th) and Nikolai Polyakov (60th) scored one goal each. Branden Laipsik (4), Sergey Plotnikov (10) and Matvey Polyakov scored goals for the guests, hitting the opponent's goal twice (18, 30), Sport-Express clarifies.
This success was Sochi's biggest in face-to-face confrontations with SKA in the KHL.
Having scored 28 points, Sochi is in the penultimate, tenth position in the Western Conference table. SKA ranks seventh with 45 points.
In the next match, Sochi will host Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik on January 3. SKA will play away from Shanghai Dragons on December 30.
