The geomagnetic situation on Earth will remain calm until the end of this year. This was announced on December 28 by the press service of the Laboratory of Space Astronomy of the IKI RAS.

"The comment this time is simple. The remaining days until the new year will be quiet. Possible outbreaks will definitely not affect the Earth (just fireworks), " wrote the Telegram channel of the laboratory.

The IKI RAS also called on Russians to calmly go about their business. Over the past 24 hours, the geomagnetic situation has also been calm.

Earlier, on December 27, the laboratory reported that the largest solar flare since December 8 had occurred. The laboratory emphasized that the peak of flare activity will occur during the New Year holidays.

Before that, on December 24, the laboratory reported that the number of days with magnetic storms in 2025 was the highest in the last 10 years. According to the IKI RAS, for 358 days since the beginning of the year, geomagnetic disturbances were registered in 69 cases, which is significantly higher than in 2024 (44 days) and comparable to the record values of 2015-2016.
