- Emergency mode was introduced in two villages of the Kamchatka Territory due to a blackout.
An emergency regime has been introduced in the villages of Bereznyaki and Lesnoy in the Yelizovsky District of the Kamchatka Territory due to a prolonged lack of electricity supply. This was announced on December 28 by the head of the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Lebedev on the social network VKontakte.
According to him, there is no light in the settlements for more than a day, and therefore the Emergency Situations commission decided to introduce a special regime. Lebedev noted that "measures are being taken to ensure the life support of the population," and the situation is under the control of emergency services.
The head of the Kamchatka Ministry of Emergency Situations also clarified that, despite the power outage, the heat supply in residential buildings was maintained.
Earlier, on December 13, it was reported that on the western coast of Kamchatka, due to adverse weather conditions, seawater was forecast to overflow through a sandbar and possible flooding of the coastal zone. The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned about the risk of flooding of the coast section from the village of Oktyabrsky to Cape Levashov and advised residents to refrain from traveling to coastal areas.
