Italy may lose about 140 million euros due to the ban on the supply of sanitary ware to Russia. This was announced on December 27 by Vincenzo Trani, President of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

"According to recent estimates, the ban on sanitary products will result in annual losses of about 140 million euros for the Italian sector. Taking into account other affected product categories, the cumulative effect of the relevant restrictive measures can reach 250 million euros in lost profits," RIA Novosti quoted Trani as saying.

According to him, the ban on the import of sanitary ware into Russia may have a "particularly significant" impact on small and medium-sized companies that previously held stable positions in the Russian market.

On October 23, the EU adopted the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions were aimed, in particular, at the supply of toilets, bidets, sinks and other sanitary products to Russia. The justification for this ban was not provided.

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on November 30 that Russians reacted with humor to the ban on the import of toilets, bidets and sinks from the European Union (EU), while European plumbing manufacturers are suffering losses. According to him, the association of Italian entrepreneurs expressed concern about this ban, stressing that for them it is far from a joke, but the situation seems funny to Russians.
