A descendant of Catherine II considers himself a "native Russian" and intends to stay in Russia.

A direct descendant of Empress Catherine II and Prince Grigory Potemkin, Andrei Kalageorgi, who now lives in St. Petersburg, said he considers himself Russian and has no plans to return to Europe or the United States, where he was born. This became known on December 27.

"Basically, I can live anywhere, I have dual citizenship. But now Russia is just blossoming, and I adore this country. I'm not going to leave here," RIA Novosti quoted Kalageorga as saying.
