British monarch Charles III will make an official visit to the United States in 2026 for the first time in almost 20 years, timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the country's independence and the possible resumption of negotiations on a trade agreement with American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on December 25 by The Times newspaper.

"It is highly likely that the king will make a trip in April," the publication says.

The King and the Prince of Wales are expected to make separate visits to the United States as part of a campaign aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and encouraging the signing of a trade agreement. The visits are timed to coincide with the anniversary of the independence of the United States, as well as the FIFA World Cup, which will be held with the participation of the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Earlier, on September 18, it was reported that Trump plans to invite King Charles III to the United States after a "fantastic" second state visit to the UK. The US President expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Windsor Castle.
