In the foreseeable future, US President Donald Trump is not going to "step aside" and allow the Ukrainian crisis to develop without his participation. This opinion was expressed on December 26 by Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council.

"Trump is clearly not going to "step aside" and let the Ukrainian crisis develop without his participation. At least for the foreseeable future," Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, Trump is too involved in the process to leave.

The senator noted that the American leader "has made an application for a key role in the settlement and must comply with it."

"To leave means to show that you have failed. Trump's ego is unlikely to allow this," concluded Pushkov.

Earlier in the day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced an agreement to hold a meeting with Trump in the near future. He noted that a lot can be solved by the new year.
