In France, they pointed out the critical situation with the homeless
The growing number of people forced to live on the streets has led to a critical situation in France, while the authorities respond to the problem only in extreme cold weather. This was announced on December 25 by the president of the humanitarian organization Doctors of the World, Jean Francois Corti.
"We have faced the failures of various governments that have tried to solve this problem, but each time we find ourselves in a situation where measures are taken only in extreme weather conditions," BFM TV quoted him as saying.
According to him, of the 350,000 people forced to live on the streets of France, about 800 die every year. In addition, about 4 million French people live without heating, he said.
"We see that the portrait of a man without a home has also changed. These are not necessarily adult men of 30-40 years old anymore. Now it's also families, women and children, who in 70% of cases have no alternative," added Corti.
Earlier, on December 24, the president of the Union of Hotel and Restaurant Workers, chef Thierry Marx, said that about 25 restaurants are closing daily in France due to the deteriorating economic situation. He noted that the country is experiencing a 20% increase in energy costs and a 15% increase in raw material prices.
