The expert named the rules for choosing jewelry for sweaters, coats and scarves in winter

The winter season is changing the rules of wearing jewelry: thick fabrics, scarves, high collars and layered images affect how accessories look complete with clothes. Jewelry that seems universal in summer can get lost against the background of knitwear in winter or, conversely, overload the image. Taisiya Iznova, SOKOLOV's category director, told Izvestia on January 13 about which models are suitable for the cold season and how to combine them with outerwear.

According to the expert, in winter, the emphasis shifts towards chains and necklaces with a denser weave and a shortened fit. Long and thin models that look organic on exposed skin in summer are lost against the background of sweaters and jackets.

"In winter, neck ornaments should be more visible and dense in shape. Chains with pronounced weaving and shortened models are better combined with knitwear and retain the accent even in multi-layered images. Such decorations are organically combined with turtlenecks, shirts under a jacket and laconic sweaters, forming a collected and structured image," the specialist emphasized.

During the cold season, earrings become the most noticeable accessory — clothes cover the neck and arms, so it is the products in the face area that remain in view. According to Iznova, micro-earrings and carnations can be invisible in the cold season, while medium and large-format earrings help balance the volume of clothing.

Jewelry for hands in winter faces an additional burden — gloves, tight sleeves and bags make complex shapes less comfortable. Therefore, rings with a smooth or wide tire and without high fasteners are preferred. Bracelets are recommended to be worn over clothes or to choose rigid designs that are not lost under the sleeves. Thin chains in everyday winter looks are less practical.

When making winter images, the expert advises starting from specific elements of clothing. With sweaters and turtlenecks, rings and earrings look the most advantageous — voluminous knitwear focuses on the hands and face, so jewelry in these areas remains as visible as possible. In such combinations, one accent ring or several laconic models without protruding details are appropriate.

Scarves and high collars limit the use of long chains and pendants. In these images, the main role is played by hoop earrings, geometric shapes, or medium—length models that do not overlap with fabric. If neck jewelry is used, preference should be given to short necklaces and chokers located above the clothing line.

Brooches go well with coats, jackets and cardigans. They can be placed on lapels, collars or even scarves, creating a neat accent without overloading the image. This format is especially relevant in winter, when most of the jewelry is hidden under outerwear.

According to her, large smooth models and track rings look best on the thumb or index finger, designer accent jewelry - on the index or middle finger, and seals are still a classic option for the little finger. Rings with large stones are increasingly worn on the index finger, which makes the image more expressive.
