Former Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Yuri Sadovenko died in Moscow. This was reported on December 26 by TASS with reference to the military commander's entourage.

"Yuri Sadovenko died on December 25 due to heart disease," the agency's source said.

He was 56 years old. Yuri Sadovenko was born on September 11, 1969, and graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School. From 1994 to 2002, he served in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, then became an assistant and later chief of Staff to Minister Sergei Shoigu.

From 2013 to 2024, he served as Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff of the Minister of Defense.
