- Onishchenko warned of an increase in the incidence of influenza after the New Year holidays
In the new year, schoolchildren will return to classes after the holidays on January 13, which will lead to an increase in the incidence of influenza due to the presence of a large number of children in one place. This was announced on December 25 by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko.
"We won't be registering a very sharp increase for a week, but growth will begin on January 20, because children are the main trigger in the epidemiological process. We have 18 million students, in classes of 25 people or more, they stay together for a long time. There will be an increase in the incidence, it will be necessary to respond adequately to this," he said in the NSN press center.
