Chinese engineers accelerated the carriage on a magnetic cushion to 700 km/ h
Chinese engineers have successfully accelerated a multi-ton platform powered by electromagnetic propulsion to a speed of 700 km/h, setting a world record. This was reported on December 25 by China Central Television (CCTV).
The tests were carried out on a 400-meter line by specialists from the Defense Science and Technology University in Changsha. Acceleration to record speed took only two seconds, after which the platform was stopped. Scientists have been developing magnetic levitation technology for 10 years.
As noted, the achievement opens up new opportunities for the development of vacuum transport powered by electromagnetic propulsion, similar to the Hyperloop project by American entrepreneur Elon Musk. Currently, the fastest Chinese trains reach speeds of up to 350 km/h.
