Analysts have named popular tourist destinations among Russians for Christmas
In 2026, almost half of Russian tourists will spend Christmas abroad. According to the analysis of hotel bookings, for the period from January 6 to January 7, the share of foreign orders reached 45%, which is 50% more than a year earlier. The remaining 55% of travelers will stay in Russia for the holiday. This was reported to Izvestia on January 4 by analysts of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service.
"Within the country, the average cost of a hotel room per day has increased from 10,700 rubles last year to 12,150 rubles this season. Traditionally, Moscow has become the most popular city for Christmas celebrations, accounting for 16.7% of domestic bookings," the analysts said.
St. Petersburg (9.1%), Yaroslavl (4.7%), Ryazan (4.5%) and Vologda (3.0%) also entered the top 5. At the same time, Kolomna and Kazan, which occupied high positions a year ago, were not included in the 2026 rating.
Thailand became the leader in bookings among foreign destinations with a share of 12.7%. It is followed by Turkey (10.9%) and China (9.1%). France also showed a noticeable increase in demand — by 54%, its share was 5.7%. Kazakhstan entered the list with 5.5% of orders. At the same time, Uzbekistan and Malaysia, which were popular last year, were less in demand. The average budget for a room abroad has also increased to 17,280 rubles per day compared to 15,800 rubles a year earlier.
OneTwoTrip analysts told Izvestia on December 25 that the most expensive hotel order made by Russian tourists in 2025 through the service amounted to almost 7 million rubles. As follows from the company's data, this amount was spent by a company of six people, including one child, on a 24-day vacation with two meals a day at a five-star resort in the Maldives.
