The specialist gave advice on building a career plan for 2026
The end of the year becomes the starting point for those who want to consciously approach the development of the profession in 2026. Lusine Abgaryan, Chief Operating Officer of Ventra HR Holding, told Izvestia on January 9 how to make a career plan for the next year.
According to her, the first step is to choose a development scenario. It is important for a specialist to determine what exactly the word "career" means for him: vertical growth, entering a new specialty, expanding the current role, retraining or switching to hybrid formats.
A signal for change may be a loss of motivation, a lack of prospects within the team, or a feeling that tasks no longer provide growth. The expert called the audit of the current state the next stage.
"Honestly evaluate your skills and project results over the past year: digitize achievements and completed tasks. Divide your activities into categories: "I want" (tasks that you like to do and they bring you joy), "I can" (your strong skills and everything that you are already good at) and market requirements that you need to meet for further growth," Abgaryan said.
A separate block is a reconciliation with the market. It is important for specialists to keep track of in-demand roles, new requirements, and hiring changes. According to the expert, this allows you to adapt your strategy: take the necessary courses, take additional functionality, and expand professional connections. The expert stressed that such monitoring cannot be carried out on a one—time basis - the market is changing faster than job descriptions.
She called the regular review of her own results the final step in career planning. Once a month, it is worth analyzing progress, changes in skills, feedback, and the situation on the job market. If a specialist understands that development in the current company is impossible or interest in the profession is declining, it is worth considering alternative directions, consulting with a career expert or using AI tools to route skills.
"A good career plan for 2026 is not about chasing titles or positions, but about strengthening your professional position. Become a specialist who knows how to look at global goals a little wider than the boundaries of his position: he quickly solves problems, helps colleagues, takes responsibility and is not afraid to learn new things. Then any career change will be a natural continuation of your growth," concluded the specialist.
In October, Arina Yusupova, deputy head of the legal department of the Console platform for cooperation with the self-employed, told Izvestia how to competently combine self-employment and employment. According to her, you can't quit and immediately sign a contract as a self—employed person with the same company - the tax service will consider this a departure from insurance premiums. But at the same time, it is absolutely normal to work in an office, and in the evening to provide private services to other companies (legal entities). In addition, it is important to keep track of income: the limit for the self—employed is 2.4 million rubles per year.
