Parents planning a vacation with a child in 2026 should determine the dates even before the employer approves the vacation schedule. This was told to Izvestia by State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin.
According to him, the vacation schedule fixes the priority of rest and is mandatory for both the employer and the employee. Therefore, it is optimal to choose suitable dates in advance, taking into account school holidays, medical treatment or trips, submit an application to the HR department and ask them to include them in the schedule, attaching copies of the children's birth certificates and, if necessary, supporting documents.
Govyrin recalled that a parent with many children, raising three or more children under the age of 18, has the right to choose a convenient time for annual paid leave until the youngest child reaches the age of 14. A similar right is granted to one of the parents of a disabled child under the age of 18.
"Another situation that is often overlooked is that, at the request of the husband, annual leave should be granted during his wife's maternity leave, even if the length of service of the employer is short," the deputy noted.
He also stressed that a woman has a separate guarantee: annual paid leave can be provided at her request before maternity leave, immediately after it, or after parental leave.
