Alexander Izbenko, the former deputy head of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for embezzlement of items seized during the investigation of criminal cases. This was reported on 24 in the Telegram channel of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow after the decision of the Basmanny Court.
"The verdict of the Basmanny District court of Moscow sentenced Alexander Nikolaevich Izbenko to 10 years in prison, with a fine of 3 million rubles, as well as deprivation of a special rank and class rank," the message says.
It is reported that Izbenko is accused of 18 episodes of embezzlement, the total damage from which amounted to 215 million rubles. At the same time, more than 19 million rubles have already been recovered from the state's revenue, and the claims of the victims have also been satisfied.
The court found that Izbenko embezzled material evidence of cases ranging from €200 to €215,000. With the stolen money, he bought real estate and cars with registration for his relatives.
On December 23, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against Gennady Sakharov, the former director of the structural division of the Rosatom state Corporation. He is accused of taking a particularly large bribe.
